Why my daughters don’t get paid to clean their rooms.

My daughters collect cans sometimes.
Not because I ask them to. They’ll notice a few cans around the house, gather them up, separate them from the regular recycling, and ask if we can take a trip to the store to cash them in. It’s a small amount of money in the end, but watching them organize it and ask for that trip taught me something about how kids actually learn the difference between earning and receiving.
